Type of Enhancement

Web Interface/Frontend

Describe the Feature/Enhancement

My idea is for Series to get more useful metadata.
There could be the following additional data:

1. Series status
This should be a select field with the following options: "Finished Releasing", "Currently Releasing", "Cancelled" and "Hiatus"
Only one of these options should be able to be selected at the same time

2. Series Description
This should be a Textarea used for description of the whole series.

Why would this be helpful?

This would be really useful as this information could be used in multiple places in the UI to for instance show if a Series finished releasing.
It could also be added to filter for instance for only books in a Series that "Finished Releasing" (I have a large library and this would help me decide what to start next).

Future Implementation (Screenshot)

I added two screenshots where I used existing ui elements to show what this could look like.

"Finished Releasing", "Currently Releasing", "Cancelled" and "Hiatus" seem like they apply to a television series, not a book series. Or is something very specific to LitRPG.

In my experience, book series don't often have the announcements that television (or RoyalRoad) series do. New books are either published or they're not, and a series can be extended every year, or every few years, or after a gap of a decade or two. I mean, A Dance with Dragons was published in 2011, and it is very unclear when or if the next book in that series will ever be published. Even the death of an author doesn't mean the end of a series if it's popular enough.

In any case, this seems related to #711 #963 #2038 #3806 and possibly others.

I know of a couple of series where the author publicly announced either a hiatus or a complete cancelation because the book/audiobooks didn't make enough money. The death of an author for a lot of the small litRPG series I listen to would also definitely be the end of the series.

The most important one to me would also be just "Finished releasing", so this could also just become a checkbox for just that information instead of the select with the rest of the options.
It would be really nice for me to know if something is finished before I start a new series(because I have like 7 series currently started that i am waiting for knew books to release).
