NetBox version

v3.5.6

Feature type

Change to existing functionality

Proposed functionality

Bulk editing a front port should also include changing rear port and rear port position.

Use case

For documenting modular fiber patch panels of multicore cables, these can be divided in modules. Each module has a number of front ports, which will be bundled in a cable, a rear port. That works so far.

However, cabled with many cores might allocate multiple module slots. The module template will create many rear ports for each module, as each front port needs to be assigned to a rear port. So after adding the module, positions of the first rear port need to be enlarged and front ports of following modules mapped to this single rear port. Currently this is not possible via bulk edit and one needs to change each and every port manually, or create multiple cables.

Example:
A modular patch panel has 12 slots. Each slot can host 12 LSH ports. For a cable with 96 cores, 8 module slots will be allocated, each being spliced to the same cable.
