NetBox version

v3.2.5

Feature type

Change to existing functionality

Proposed functionality

When adding interfaces to a module type, it would be very helpful if the help text mentioned that you can use {module} as a placeholder, which is replaced with the "position" value of the instantiating module bay in a device.

Currently I see only this:

Use case

To avoid having to cross-reference to Netbox documentation to remember exactly the name and format of the placeholder.

Database changes

None

Suggested text when Module Type tab is active:

The string {module} will be replaced by the "position" field of the module bay when instantiating this module in a device.

Alphanumeric ranges in square brackets are also supported for bulk creation. Example: [ge,xe]-{module}/0/[0-9]

Is this FR different than https://github.com/netbox-community/netbox/issues/9062?

No, I didn't find that one before.

I'm happy to close this one, although I note the other one is also pending automatic closure.
