NetBox version

v3.2.1

Feature type

Change to existing functionality

Proposed functionality

First
To make the status "Decommissioning" more accessible i propose to make the button image a dropdownmenu with the three options available like the edit button image. As of now the button only let you choose between "Connected" and "Planned". For Switching to "Decommissioning" you have to edit the cable itself.

Second
To make the new function more readable in the interfacetable do not bind the coloring to the "Enabled" status. You completely loose the state "Decommissioning" if the interface gets marked disabled.
If this is not possible because of a reason I am missing make the existing button image in three different colors; Maybe Green Connected, Blue Planned, Yellow Decommissioning
image

Use case

First
Make the Decommissioning feature more accessible to allow a more convenient use.

Second

  • Ports that are marked disabled can also have physical cabling left on site.
  • Allow user on a mobile device to see easily which ports to add the cable to and which ports to remove the cable

This should ultimately lead to a well-maintained documentation/site

Database changes

Not sure

External dependencies

None
