NetBox version

v3.2.2

Feature type

Data model extension

Proposed functionality

Add a new interface type for Serial interfaces. It would be nice to include the:

  • V.35
  • X.21
  • EIA/TIA-530
  • EIA/TIA-485
  • EIA/TIA-422
  • EIA/TIA-232/V.24
  • EIA/TIA-449/V.36

Use case

We use Cisco ISR 4000 Series routers with NIM-1T/2T/4T modules (https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/routers/4000-series-integrated-services-routers-isr/datasheet-c78-732155.html) and Memotec routers (http://memotec.com/?page_id=16) for our Frame Relay networks (yes, those still exist).

It would also be correct to add an "undefined" type for unused serial interfaces. Because the type of interface is definite by the type of cable connected to it. Would you consider adding this functionality? Did I fill out my request correctly?
