Environment

  • Python version: 3.6.9
  • NetBox version: 2.8.6

Proposed Functionality

Showing cables, filtering on one, or more racks. It would be nice to be able to filter on those cables connected to interfaces or front ports, hiding cables connected to rear ports.

Use Case

This would make it easy to see only patch cables, not fixed cables beyond the patch panels. Useful to be able to create a list of patch cables, for verification and troubleshooting.

Database Changes

None, that I'm aware of

External Dependencies

None, that I'm aware of

This needs more detail to be actionable. Please list the specific filters being proposed and their effects on a queryset.

When viewing wires on a site or rack / rack-group. A toggle box to hide all wires connected one or both ends to a rear-port.

If enabled, the rear-port connections (fixed infrastructure) would be hidden, and only patch-cables would be listed.

Currently, if you list wires - to get a list of all patch-cables in a rack the list is cluttered with fixed wire connected to the fixed-wire infrastructure in the buliding.
