Environment

  • Python version: 3.7.7
  • NetBox version: 2.8.5

Proposed Functionality

Allow cables to be created between wireless interfaces (IEEE 802.11ac, IEEE 802.11ad, ...)
Possible addition of a new cable type "wireless"

Use Case

Connecting two switches using a wireless point-to-point bridge
SW01 Ge0/0/1 -> PTP01 eth0 (this already works)
PTP01 wlan0 -> PTP02 wlan0 (this is impossible as for now unless we mark these interfaces as wired)
PTP02 eth0 -> SW02 Ge0/0/1 (this already works)

Database Changes

None as far as I see, cables can be created in the database, this request just concerns allowing an extra interface type (wireless) to create a cable on
Possible addition of a new cable type "wireless"

External Dependencies

None as far as I see

@czarnian commented on GitHub (Jun 5, 2020):

I see this as a duplicate of #2067
Anyways, wireless cable does not make sense. The connection model for wireless systems is currently discussed in #3979
