Possible to get software installed section? Almost same as IPAM/Service, but a software list that can be linked to VM or device?

Use case

Create a list of installed software, with name,publisher,version and like this to one or many VMs/Devices to create a "software installed" much like IPAM/Service, but with ability to link software item to many VMs/Devices

Database changes

Sorry not sure what it takes to create this and which Database changes thats needed.

External dependencies

User can create script to collect all installed software and update Software list ( if not already software/version exists) and then link to VMs/Devices

I'm going to convert this to a discussion as it appears to be exploratory in nature rather than a detailed proposal for new functionality (and might lean toward a plugin anyway).
