Deployment Type

Self-hosted

NetBox Version

v4.3.1

Python Version

3.10

Steps to Reproduce

Navigate to /user/preferences/

Select Czech as locale.language

Expected Behavior

Translation should not make NetBox inconsistent and nearly unusable.

Observed Behavior

The Czech translation is obviously machine-translated - at least in part. It makes the user experience very bad as there are parts of the UI that does not make sense at all.

  1. There are critical inconsitencies in naming of core NetBox components.
For example: Cluster is refered to as Klastr and Shluk, the first one makes sense, the latter is a complete nonsense in this context. But the main issue is that both words are used in the translation, which makes it super confusing.

  2. Key navigation features are incorrectly named and does not make sense.
For example: "Site groups" (/dcim/site-groups/) are translated as "Skupiny webů". That means Groups of websites when translated back to English.
"Sites" are called "Pages", as in web pages (again, when translated back to English)
"Elevations" are refered to as "Nadmořská výška", which means geo altitude.

The awesome and thought through naming system in NetBox is destroyed and users are completely confused. The Czech translation is not serving it's purpose and only misleads users - especially as it's configured as a default language with Czech locale in browser.

I would suggest pulling the translation out of NetBox until those issues are resolved.
I will try to find some time in future months to have a try myself, but I can't commit to that right now.
