NetBox version

v4.2.6

Feature type

Data model extension

Proposed functionality

Port types Fiber - E2000 APC (comment: LWL 48x 9/125μm Singlemode) missing on netbox

Use case

As a single source of truth, Netbox should make it possible to create E2000 port type without having to create custom fields.

I can confirm that the E2000 APC port type is currently missing from the available options in NetBox, and adding it would be a valuable enhancement.

However, I’d like to clarify that LC-OM4 doesn't represent a distinct port type. LC refers to the connector type, while OM4 specifies the fiber classification (multimode, 50/125µm). In NetBox, this combination can already be modeled using the existing LC port type along with the appropriate cable type (e.g., OM4). So in this case, no new port type is needed.

I’d suggest updating the title and content of this feature request to focus solely on the missing E2000 APC port type.

Agree with @pheus here, particularly about how to model LC-OM4 connections.

With regard to the E2000 connector type, though, we already have that option (and more) available as the LSH/APC port type. E2000 is trademarked by Diamond and appears to be an implementation of LSH, per the TIA 604-16 spec.
