it seems that the flip x and y command also flips the split direction
Describe the solution you'd like
it would be nice if the two behaviours weren't tied together, so that even after flipping the layout the windows still always split to the right/down (or some other specified, configurable direction)
Describe alternatives you've considered
after perusing the website and the configuration reference this behaviour does not appear to be configurable

This ultimately comes back to #59, which I'm gonna close this ticket in favour of so that all of the tracking stays in one place.
Anyone is welcome to work on this and I'll be happy to mentor.
