Bug description

In the Headscale config file logtail enabled is set to false. The expected behavior is that clients would no longer send logs to log.tailscale.io. Mac and Linux clients respect this setting, Windows clients still connect to log.tailscale.io, or at least send DNS requests for this domain.

It is possible that this bug is in the Tailscale client rather than Headscale itself.

Environment

  • OS: Windows 10 & Windows 11 (happens on both)
  • Headscale version: 0.22
  • Tailscale version: 1.44-1.52 (updated to latest version to check)
  • [no] Headscale is behind a (reverse) proxy
  • [no] Headscale runs in a container

To Reproduce

Set logail to false in headscale config file. Connect Windows client to headscale. DNS requests to log.tailscale.io are subsequently visible (e.g., in PiHole).
