Type of Enhancement

Web Interface/Frontend

Describe the Feature/Enhancement

In a similar vein to how the Google Play store can allow one to browse mobile apps from the comfort and convenience of a full desktop web browser and install selected apps to the user's mobile device:

this is an analogous feature request which would allow a user to browse books in the same comfort and convenience of the full desktop web UI with a Send to mobile option to trigger the mobile client to download the book to local storage.

A couple of points:

  • I assume that this is an Android only sort of thing since iOS is more restricted
  • Ideally, there would be some way in either the mobile client or in the ABS server to set the default download directory (since such specificity at time of Send to mobile seems unlikely)
  • This would be integrated in some way to also remove books from mobile in a less cumbersome way, i.e., integrating a select local books to delete from the mobile client would also allow for a desktop-based way to delete local books
  • (https://github.com/advplyr/audiobookshelf-app/issues/1043)

Why would this be helpful?

It would allow a user to browse books in the comfort and convenience of the full desktop web UI to pick book(s) to send to mobile for local storage.

Future Implementation (Screenshot)

A button like the Google screenshot above would be on the book page. I can see an eventual way to select books and then do a mass action, but that would be a follow on if this were to be workable.

Audiobookshelf Server Version

v2.30.0

Current Implementation (Screenshot)

I was on the the regular home screen, but that said, I would have the download button here:
