Type of Enhancement

None

Describe the Feature/Enhancement

I'd like to request that narrators be treated more like authors with additional metadata fields including bio and a single photo storage.

Additional metadata fields requested could include links to their website if they have one.

Why would this be helpful?

Narrators are growing in a importance to book fans and there is more curiosity about them. I'm finding that my family has begun listening to books that include a particular narrator and it is a nicer display for them.

I realize there may not be good metadata sources available for narrators or it might take external development to provide that. However, that does not stop me with historical authors that may not have audible entries. I think the ability to manually update these records is enough.

Future Implementation (Screenshot)

I don't think this is necessary. The authors implementation is pretty much the reference for the narrator section. Please respond and I will mock one up but example seems is in the app already really.

Audiobookshelf Server Version

v2.32.1

Current Implementation (Screenshot)

I was looking at the narrator and author pages and got some feedback from my family and friends.

Duplicate/related to https://github.com/advplyr/audiobookshelf/issues/2561

Narrators are currently only a text field on a book, there is no data model associated with them.

Appreciate the duplicate catch. That title looked like a separate request but you're right it is related/duplicate and will be closed.

The idea here isn't that there is upstream metadata to sync/mine that needs a local server support to sync, but that we can expand the local data manually ourselves and maybe later with a consolidated metadata source.

Low priority enhancement of course but it seems to be the movement of the various audio book fan bases that these performers rise a little in stardom, which means more information is desired about them.

I will comment any further on the #2561 for discussion to consolidate the conversations.
