Type of Enhancement

Web Interface/Frontend

Describe the Feature/Enhancement

At the moment Search will only serach inside the Librarie currently showing. Sometimes search is needed over all Libraries. A simple option to activate this would be possible to serach for a title author etc. over all the libraries?

Why would this be helpful?

In the case looking for a title ot author and you do not know in which librarie it is registred. It could find matching entries in all libraries eg. ePub and Audiobooks Adult or Audiobooks Children or Comics etc.

Future Implementation (Screenshot)

somthing like a results page indivating in which libraries the match was found with link to the items.

Audiobookshelf Server Version

2.30.0

Current Implementation (Screenshot)

No response

Duplicate of https://github.com/advplyr/audiobookshelf/issues/556 and https://github.com/advplyr/audiobookshelf/issues/2236

Libraries currently are seen as independent spaces. A global search also has other problems such as duplicate but different authors, collections, playlists etc. that are only somewhat easily solvable. There has been some discussion about this, but I don't know the result of it.

Also note that most if not all of your libraries are more intended to be used with tags. Libraries currently are seen as complete different libraries. So Audiobooks Children would be a tag where children only have access to that tag e.g.

I understand the libraries are seperated but that is exacly what I want. eg for children for comics etc. you mentioned tags? Where are they comming from?
Anyway especially for managing organazing it would be helpful to have this option. Thanks for your reply. I see there was discussion about this already.

You have to set them manually or embed the metadata. You can shift select multiple books which makes this a few click action. I know someone wanted to overhaul the search but this was months ago afaik

I also think this would be a great enhancement! My current workaround is to have an extra library called ALL to be able to search through everything.
