Type of Enhancement

Web Interface/Frontend

Describe the Feature/Enhancement

It would improve the UX if the web interface stayed on the "chapter editing" (eg: http://localhost:13378/audiobookshelf/audiobook/37ed0152-4921-4dd2-92f1-61102b062a00/chapters) after editing chapters and clicking the SAVE button.

I suspect that I'm going about things backwards, but that's how my brain works.

Why would this be helpful?

Staying in the "chapter editing" screen after clearing the chapters currently dumps the user back to the main book selection screen (in my specific example, editing details for books in the series). I then have to go back into the information editing screen (eg. match, files) through the menu. This gets to be quite tedious when editing multiple different entries in my library.

Future Implementation (Screenshot)

Currently, the flow is to enter item editing through the menu, selecting CHAPTERS > EDIT CHAPTERS > (either REMOVE ALL which dumps the user back to the library shelf page or LOOKUP > SEARCH > APPLY > SAVE which dumps the user back to the library shelf page)

It might be useful to be able to have some sort of toggle in the settings to select whether editing chapters should default back to the library page or stay in the editing page after altering the chapter information.

2.29.0

I just made this change yesterday https://github.com/advplyr/audiobookshelf/commit/85d5531bc162eaa1a5a24fddb27b460cf320f5db based on https://github.com/advplyr/audiobookshelf/issues/4650

Odd that this got mentioned twice in a week after almost 4 years of never being mentioned.

My apologies for not reading the previous entry more closely! I admit to only skimming the subject, not closely reading the details.

But, as you said, it's interesting that the same thing got mentioned twice in close succession after 4 years of nothing.

Regardless, I'm absolutely loving ABS. SO much easier to manage my audio library than trying to shoe-horn Plex into doing what ABS does with great eloquence.
