Type of Enhancement

Web Interface/Frontend

Describe the Feature/Enhancement

Add a global search and browsing functionality that works across all libraries. In addition to searching, provide unified display and filter options such as Library, Collection, Series, and Author. Authors could be grouped and displayed across libraries, making it easier to get a complete view of their works.

Why would this be helpful?

For users with large audiobook collections spread over multiple libraries, it is currently difficult to find and organize titles without knowing the exact location. A global search combined with unified display options would allow users to:
• Find books by title, even if the library is unknown.
• Browse all works by an author across multiple libraries.
• View series or collections consistently, regardless of which library they are stored in.

This would greatly improve usability and navigation for large, segmented collections.

Future Implementation (Screenshot)

Audiobookshelf Server Version

2.25.1

Current Implementation (Screenshot)

As shown in the previous screenshot, it would be helpful to have an All Libraries option directly available in the menu bar.

Duplicate of https://github.com/advplyr/audiobookshelf/issues/556 and https://github.com/advplyr/audiobookshelf/issues/2236

Libraries currently are seen as independent spaces. A global search also has other problems such as duplicate but different authors, collections, playlists etc. that are only somewhat easily solvable. There has been some discussion about this, but I don't know the result of it.

Also note that most if not all of your libraries are more intended to be used with tags (or for most of yours even genres). Libraries currently are seen as complete different libraries.
