i have also found the stream of red warnings annoying.

in my case i have manually added pictures to all of the authors and hoped this would resolve the flood of error messages.

  • i would consider it to be a bug that the error populates for authors that have been manually populated with images
  • it would make sense if the error only populated if the image of the author was missing
  • it might make sense to add an option to "omit author from automatic image search" on an authors page if you were satisfied with there being an empty image there and didn't want an error message to populate for that particular author but still wanted other missing author images to be included during a scan.
    • in this case it would make sense to flag the authors that are missing images but have not been explicitly flagged to skip with some kind of red tag, similar to when media is missing from a book.
    • in this case authors who were flagged as "skip during scan" wouldn't be flagged with a red tag during an automated scan
    • this would help the admin to decide which authors they want to put effort into manually populating, and which they have already decided to leave blank
