Type of Enhancement

Web Interface/Frontend

Describe the Feature/Enhancement

Sometimes I update the audiobook files in my library, for example when some issue with the original recording gets fixed. However this usually causes the Chapter times to be slightly changed. At the moment there is no way that I know of (except for removing deleting the audiobook from my library and re-adding it) to update the chapters in audiobookshelf using the audiobook file.

I would like to have an option on the Edit Chapters screen to re-read chapters from the audiobook file(s). Another option would be to extend the Set chapters from tracks buttons functionality to also include the chapters from the files themselves.

Why would this be helpful?

So chapters can be updated when the audiobook file changes.

Future Implementation (Screenshot)

I'm not a UXer, but I was thinking something like this:

Audiobookshelf Server Version

v2.19.2

@advplyr commented on GitHub (Feb 16, 2025):

You could also delete the chapters and press edit then re-scan. That would scan the files again and set the chapters.
