Type of Enhancement

Web Interface/Frontend

Describe the Feature/Enhancement

As a user I would like to have a very clear UI that tells me which episodes have been played fully. Maybe grey out the episode when played to make it super obvious

Why would this be helpful?

Currently if his is already implemented it is not clear to me at all

Future Implementation (Screenshot)

Just great out episodes already played

Audiobookshelf Server Version

0.9.77 beta?

Current Implementation (Screenshot)

What screen in particular are you looking at?

On the home view, there is a green bar underneath the episode if it is completed the same way it is shown for books.

On the Latest tab, already played episodes are not displayed.

Individual podcasts only show unplayed episodes by default, but you can change this using the filter setting.

Edited for clarity and added web client screenshot even though this is specifically for the app, not the web client?

Thanks for the response.

Ok, then technically it does do this, but to the user this is a little too subtle and easily missed.

For example the bar is very thin, and cannot be seen when the color of the podcast thumb is the same as the bar.

Also the green dot on the filter icon is super tiny. Why is it a filter icon anyway?

When the podcast is downloaded it shows a . This is confusing.

Could I request...

  1. Make the bar thicker.
  2. When a podcast is downloaded show a download symbol is green (not a checkmark in the home (thumnail) and library list view.
  3. When a podcast is completed place a green checkmark in the top right of the thumnail and on the library list view.

I think this would make the UX a little more obvious.

Thanks

Can you explain how episodes not being shown when they are completed is more confusing? A screenshot of where you are finding this confusing would be helpful, we are having to guess what you mean.

The reason for the green checkmark is to make it consistent with the download status with audiobook libraries.

Also the green dot on the filter icon is super tiny. Why is it a filter icon anyway?

It is a filter icon because it's a filter for what episodes are shown.

Thanks for the response. To clarify...

What I see..

When downloaded, download symbol changes to check mark. This is confusing
because I look at it and think I've played the episode. This checkmark
appears in both home and latest views.

When played, the bar does turn green but it is very thin. If I am driving
it is v difficult to see at a glance. Too subtle.

When played in the latest view, Finished appears in grey font next to a
green play symbol. The green play symbol appears next to both played and
not played episodes. At a glance I am looking for symbology first, words
second.

Suggestion (of course this is subjective and just an idea).

... When not downloaded show white download symbol. When downloaded show
green download symbol (not ). Show in both latest and home.

... When not played show white ▶️ symbol. When played show green play
symbol. Show in both latest and home.

That icon is commonly used to represent downloaded and I don't think we want to include a regular download icon on the cover since users would think clicking it would start a download.
