Describe the issue

Whenever I cast to a compatible device using my browser or Android app and set a timer, it tends to completely lose track of time. Ex: I set it to 45 minutes timeout, let the lock screen kick in or navigate away, come back in 20 minutes and the timer hasn't moved from 45 minutes, or barely moved. I watch the screen for a bit and watch the timer decrement, come back 20 minutes later, but hardly any time has elapsed.

Steps to reproduce the issue

  1. Open Chrome or the Android app, then select a device to cast to
  2. Open a book and select stream
  3. On the playback screen, user the timer function and select a time
  4. If using the app, allow the screensaver to kick in. If using Chrome, it shouldn't matter what you do
  5. After a predetermined length of time, return to the browser or app and compare the elapsed time to the timer. It may not have changed, or if it has it is by very little

Audiobookshelf version

v2.8.1

How are you running audiobookshelf?

FYI, this is still an issue, regardless of playback method (web or Android app).

I am having the same issues. When i try to cast any book, it just spins like its loading. Both on Android and web. Bluetooth and speaker playback works fine.

I also noticed it says it cannot cast local media from Android.
