Describe the feature/enhancement

Currently you can change where you store your metadata and cover. Either with the item or in /metadata.
It would be nice to have an option to migrate between the two. So that the metadata isn't in two locations.

Workaround: Current workaround is deleting all the metadata and covers in one place, and regenerating it. This can however be very cumbersome with audiobooks that require manual input for metadata or cover.

+1, it would be useful to have an "Apply" or "Apply to all items" button next to "Store covers with item" and "Store metadata with item" in the general settings, to make sure that the change is actually applied to all existing items.

Or alternately, having library scans do it automatically.

It's kinda weird having covers and metadata in both places!

Yeah I don't look forward to redoing matching + manual metadata tweaking for over 1k books now that I changed the setting...

@Vito0912 commented on GitHub (Aug 22, 2025):

FYI for applying (and therefore regenerating metadata) I added a tool that adds a tag to all of them (Force metadata)
Deleting the olds should not be needed btw.
