Describe the feature/enhancement

This is a larger feature/concept that probably should not be prioritized over other things, but the outcome could be very cool. Especially for me who finds this use case extremely useful.

I typically listen to multiple episodes of podcasts in succession but often feel my desire to switch to music fluctuating. Sometimes I wish for a little break from all the talking, and sometimes a couple of songs I want to listen to pop into my head throughout the day. When I used Spotify to listen to podcasts, I could typically queue regular songs as a sort of break in between podcast episodes, which felt especially fitting as I listen to radio podcasts which would typically have music breaks.

If there was some way to "connect" Audiobookshelf to other music services, I could possibly queue songs in between episodes, giving me that musical break I desire. I am not really sure what services this would be possible with, or if these songs can be played in the native Audiobookshelf player itself because I think that would be necessary.

The concept could be similar to the Sonos music app, where you add services (typically music streaming services) and can queue items from across multiple services into the same queue in the app. A range of interesting services that could be available are:

  • Spotify
  • Apple Music
  • Plex
  • Qubuz
  • Deezer

I imagine connecting my Plex account (which is what I use personally for music) to my Audiobookshelf account in the settings. This is done by adding the connection details and logging in. When I'm listening to podcasts I can search for songs available in Plex using a Audiobookshelf interface. When I find my desired song I click "play next" or "add to queue", and it is added to the Audiobookshelf queue.

A cool concept could also be choosing a playlist and a desired amount of shuffled songs to play in between podcast episodes, giving it some variety.
