Describe the feature/enhancement

I'd love a way to add bookmarks and/or notes to my books, both audio and ebook.
Love using Audiobookshelf, really amazing!

Can you explain what you mean by notes?

Bookmarks are added to audiobooks already.

I'd love to be able to highlight parts of an eBook and write a little note if there is a part of the book I want to remember.

It would be nice if you could then click on the book from your bookshelf and see your notes and highlighted phrases all in one place.

I have used the bookmarks in the audiobooks, and loved it! Sorry for not being more clear.

I'm interested in this as well. I'm a reviewer, and I get books from all different sources. It would be nice to add a note that says "Review copy from (author, narrator, publisher), post to (websites), etc. I know I can make a collection for review copies, but I can't currently add when I obtained them either. I'd also like to be able to add a link to my review(s) for a book, without having to turn the description into a personal notes section. I prefer to put the official summary in the description section.

Just dropping in here to show my support for this feature. Honestly I don't even need bookmarks, just notes for me to jot down places in the book i want to remember would be enough for me.

I'd really love to have this feature too. There is a bit of discussion in the Readest app github (https://github.com/readest/readest/discussions/1825) about using Audiobookshelf as a backend (and Readest as the frontend, which provides a really nice and open source ebook reading experience on mobile). It has the ability to make highlights and write notes/annotations in ebooks. If Audiobookshelf was added as a backend, it would be great if highlights and annotations in books were natively used in Audiobookshelf (and available in the API) so that these could be pushed and pulled to/from Adiobookshelf/Readest.
