Describe the feature/enhancement

I just initiated a manual backup (by clicking on the create backup button) and then navigated to another section of the settings. When I came back, I observed that the backup wasn't created. It would be nice if the backup (once triggered) runs in the background, so that one can continue doing something else (without opening ABS on another tab).

This is already how it works. Can you try again?

Okay, you are right. It does work. It was just the since the indicator (I think it's called the throbber) was no longer there, I assumed it got cancelled.

Maybe have the throbber animation stay on the button while the backup process is on.

Should I leave it open or create another issue for backup indicator display while backup is running?

I mean the circular animation that starts when you click the button. It's no longer there when you navigate away. Hope it is clear.

We can leave this open. What is the size of your backups? This takes about a second for me but I have a medium sized library.
