Weirdly, sometimes it does not occur. From time to time I will have a listening session in which the earbud controls work normally. This is infrequent enough that I haven't been able to reliably reproduce it. But it seems to happen only after I have been listening for a while (10+ minutes?). Disconnecting the headphones or quitting the app causes the bug to recur.

Occurs also with Jabra Elite 10.

Update: With the Jabra Elite 10, this appears to be connected to multipoint. If I have the earbuds connected to both the PC and my phone, I get the described behavior. If I disconnect my earbuds from the PC, the behavior no longer occurs until I reconnect to the PC.
Having said that, I definitely recall the bug occurring in some situations that can't be explained by a multipoint connection to my PC. I will see if I can reproduce.
@lachlandcp, can you test the potential multipoint connection with your device?

I too, have Edifier WH700NB headphones. I am connected only to android phone and the play/pause button causes rewind followed by play as already described.
It's curious that it only happens with the audiobookshelf, all other apps work fine, and also curious that when using different audiotechnica earbuds, there is no such issue.
Let me know if there is any other info I can provide help.

Sorry for the late reply! The issue remains when my headphones are connected solely to my phone, replicating @exaiyo's experience above. Issue also remains when my phone is only connected to my headphones, for good measure.

I have this exact behaviour on my Huawei Mate 20 X (latest official android version) and JBL Tour One M2 headphones. Not on any other app but ABS. Will be happy to provide more info if anyone is interested in this issue still.
