Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

I commonly use shortcuts to control my other audiobook apps via car stereo or a shortcut button on my phone, via tasker intents, such as:
com.acmeandroid.listen.action.PLAY

Which would be especially useful on audiobookshelf as the player doesn't automatically open (at the moment) when you open the app.

Describe the solution you'd like

Add intents, or if they already exist maybe just have them documented somewhere?

I'd also be very interested. I switched over from Listen and I had Tasker automation to start the last used music app, so that I can easily switch between different music apps and continue where I left off by putting my earbuds in. It's really convenient, but I can't do it with audiobookshelf due to lack of intents. Tried searching for them in the code, but couldn't find one for play/pause.

I switched over from Smart Audiobook Player and also loved this feature. i used this so change audio-apps when connecting headphones.

I would also love an intent for switching the active audiobook by intent (for example to switch to a preferred audiobook on special occasions.. :) That was not possible with Smart Audiobook Player.

Any news on this? Being able to play the latest audiobook straight from an available intent would be really useful for tasker integration!

I'd also love to be able to integrate abs with tasker. Thanks

+1 for intents & shortcuts. Until this enhancement is added, I am forced to continue using Listen audiobook player. Its fine but it means I can only download books with ABS, then play locally with Listen. I would love to be able to use ABS as a one stop shop. I have seen several requests for intents, shortcuts, and assistant playbook that it seems like this feature should be relatively high priority by now.

+1 from me as well. I use Smart AudioBook Player with Tasker to completely control my audiobook listening. Combined with a mini controller (e.g. 8BitDo Micro) can listen at night while never needing to turn on or unlock my phone.

The intents I use are:

  • Play/pause
  • Forward/back a larger amount (2 min)
  • Forward/back a smaller amount (30 secs)
  • Next/prev chapter (or file if no chapters)

Even better would be mappable bluetooth keys to equivalent commands so I wouldn't need Tasker, but either one would be great for my purposes.

+1

Rewinding 5 minutes is a ballache, using the android widget is great. Exceptfor rewinding.. it keeps triggering the double-tap "gesture'. Tasker integration would be great
