In case it helps, I had a similar issue but running the app on iOS Apple iPhone. The strange thing was that it worked before then it stopped.

Can you login/connect from the browser instead?

The clue for me was that I could connect from browser but not app. The solution was to turn on local network permission in the audiobookshelf app settings.

For Android: https://developer.android.com/privacy-and-security/local-network-permission

Screenshot for iOS, which I know is not the same as Android, but in case it helps others.
