This looks like it is because the app player is adjusting the timestamp by the playback speed and android auto is not.
I'm not sure if that is controllable in AA or if sending an adjusted duration would break the seeking. There are limitations on what we can do there

I found another book with this same problem. Also a novella. Length of 2h18m. But I noticed the wrong duration on the android notification. No android auto involved.
Length displayed 169h12m02s

If you probe the file from the web client, does ABS report something different than mediainfo for the duration? ABS uses ffprobe to get metadata info, so I'm wondering if it could be a metadata tags difference.

Darn, I was hoping it would be something with weird metadata between ffprobe and mediainfo.
Thanks for checking that too.

What was the Problem?
Total book length is incorrect in some books in AA. Displays correctly in Android.
I can provide the M4B in question if needed.
Mediainfo
Steps to Reproduce the Issue
Connect to android auto. This isn't with all my books.
What was Expected?
Total time should match android.
Phone Model
Moto g7
Phone OS
Android 10
Audiobookshelf App Version
Android App - 0.9.79
Installation Source
Google Play Store
Additional Notes
No response
@advplyr commented on GitHub (Feb 18, 2025):
This looks like it is because the app player is adjusting the timestamp by the playback speed and android auto is not.
I'm not sure if that is controllable in AA or if sending an adjusted duration would break the seeking. There are limitations on what we can do there
@SenorSmartyPants commented on GitHub (Feb 18, 2025):
Total Audiobook time is 2h 20m
@advplyr commented on GitHub (Feb 18, 2025):
Ah I see it is showing 171 hours. Was that book downloaded to the device recently?
@SenorSmartyPants commented on GitHub (Feb 18, 2025):
Yes. Within the last couple days.
@SenorSmartyPants commented on GitHub (Feb 26, 2025):
I found another book with this same problem. Also a novella. Length of 2h18m. But I noticed the wrong duration on the android notification. No android auto involved.
Length displayed 169h12m02s
@SenorSmartyPants commented on GitHub (Feb 26, 2025):
I also just noticed that the player will continue playing after teaching the end of the book.
@nichwall commented on GitHub (Feb 27, 2025):
If you probe the file from the web client, does ABS report something different than mediainfo for the duration? ABS uses ffprobe to get metadata info, so I'm wondering if it could be a metadata tags difference.

@SenorSmartyPants commented on GitHub (Feb 27, 2025):
Here's the ffprobe output from using the ABS web ui. duration and duration_ts seem to add up to the correct minutes and seconds.

I can provide the file somehow if that would be helpful.
