Kindle Fire restricts apps to the amazon appstore unless sideloaded. Sideloaded apps do not work with the kid's mode.

Please add the Audiobookshelf app to the appstore so I can put it on my kids' tablets!

Not on the "kids mode" (kindle freetime), only apps listed on the appstore are eligible

As a work around to get this app in kids mode:

  1. Buy app "Rocketapps" on Amazon.
  2. Install this app in kids mode. (it is a simple launcher)
  3. start the app and get the "files" app visible. (the file browser)
  4. download the APK from this github and put in on some compatible SD card.
  5. In Kids mode start "Rocketapps" open "files" and install APK.
  6. add "AudioBookshelf" to Rocketapps launcher and remove files
    --> Audiobookshelf can be started in kids mode thru rocketapps.
