  • we need an image that is just iMessage, plus all the apps/services required to run that only.

  • no background, maps, news, etc.

  • some apps required such as music and photos

  • absolute bare minimum to run iMessage as a server

  • sub 10GB image size

  • risk of keys

  • takes human time to build, must be automated

I am considering automating the entire installation and skipping the setup assistant once https://github.com/linux-apfs/linux-apfs-rw is perfect enough to bless a Big Sur and higher image
