Will you be supporting the new 16 m1 max MacBook pro (along with the updated operating system from Apple)?
BTW, I have been using AlDente Pro for a while now and I love it... It feels great to know that the battery is truly protected by the optimal charging strategy.
Thank you,

Hi @elihollander,
We are working on getting AlDente to work on the new M1 Pro and M1 Max MacBooks. However, we need to get our hands on these devices first before we can say anything more if AlDente will be supported.
Cheers,
Matthias

I'm really eager to save the battery on my new machine so I installed it taking a chance.
The UI doesn't work at all, there is nothing in the menu bar. But the process is running and I do believe it is working as I've disabled the macOS battery feature and my machine stopped charging at around 80% after installing it.Busy working so didn't pay much attention to the process and what happened. However if I disable the Aldente process the battery starts charging. So at this point really the UI is the primary thing that is broken.I'm working in app development myself while having limited time let me know if you'd like to me to investigate something. I'd be happy to help!
I'm on a 16" M1 Max currently connected to a Caldigit TS3+
edit: just saw https://github.com/davidwernhart/AlDente/issues/419 so maybe this is a macOS update issue. Seems to work fine for this machine anyway! :)
edit 2: seems to work fine! Just learned that the notch cuts off the menu bar items and they do not continue beneath or extend after it so after closing a few things Aldente was there and it's also seen on external monitor :)

I just picked up my 16” M1 Pro Max yesterday.
My initial experience: AlDente seems to be working flawlessly. I will know much more by the end of the day.

Just to add...
This morning I discharged the battery on my 16” M1 Pro Max to a point below my charge limit. The computer charged to the charge limit and then stoped charging, as it should. So far so good (and the UI looks the way it did in the past).
Thank you for the good work,'

@MatthiasKerbl commented on GitHub (Oct 28, 2021):
Hi @goldcoders,
Take a look at this thread: #339
You can also try to completely reinstall AlDente. After reinstallation, it should work fine again.
Cheers,
Matthias

Hi @MatthiasKerbl
First of all thank you for making this app and responding promptly to the users! I was just wondering if I'm correct in understanding that the new 14" and 16" M1 Pro/Max MBPs are not yet officially supported, seeing that they are not on the "Is My MacBook Supported" list in the FAQ?
Many thanks!
@ange335 commented on GitHub (Oct 31, 2021):
General Question: Should I disable the integrated macOS Battery management? (optimised charging to 80%) I´m using the new MacBook Pro 14" with M1 Pro processor! (got it yesterday, an incredible machine)
PS: I browsed the web for years already to find your service, lol... DO MORE ADVERTISING, this is a more than useful tool and I would wish I found it earlier... My MacBook Air with M1 Battery is at 89% now after 11 months because of being plugged in all the time... :/
Greetings from Austria to Austria :)
@MatthiasKerbl commented on GitHub (Oct 31, 2021):
Hi @jameszhan9592,
You are correct, the new 14" and 16" M1 Pro/Max MBPs are currently not supported.
However, we are in the process of testing AlDente on the new MacBooks and so far it looks good. If no bugs will arise until our testing is finished, we will definitely add support to the new MacBooks.
Cheers,
Matthias
@MatthiasKerbl commented on GitHub (Oct 31, 2021):
Hi @ange335,
You should definitely deactivate the integrated macOS Battery management since it will interfere with AlDente.
I am glad you like our little app and we will definitely increase our marketing so more people can potentially increase their battery longevity.
Greetings to a fellow Austrian,
Matthias
@elihollander commented on GitHub (Oct 31, 2021):
Just to let you know, I have the new M1 Pro Max with 64 GB ram. I have it now for about five days.
So far, AlDente is working perfectly, with no issues that I can see. I have restarted the computer several times, and AlDente kicked in as it should. I have not had a chance to see if the “sailing” feature works because the Pro Max is so energy efficient and the power supply so powerful that the charge level has only gone down 1% in three days of some intensive work.
If there are any specific things you would like me to test, I will be happy to do so.

I'm having multiple issues now after a few days of using my new machine. Not sure if I should write here or type up a new issue.

Hi @dstyp,
I am sorry that you experience some issues with AlDente.
