I'm using a MacBook Air M1, and sometimes it is charged above the preset percentage, which is 80%.
Normally, I just close the lid without turning off power (sleep mode) when I charge it.
Do you have any idea?

Hi @Korean-David,
Do you have our free version or AlDente Pro?
AlDente Free can’t control the charging behavior while your MacBook is in sleep mode or powered off. Therefore, it will start charging again when you close the lid.
AlDente Pro, on the other hand, has a feature that allows you to stop charging even if your MacBook is asleep. You can check it out here: https://apphousekitchen.com/pricing/

Hi, Matthias,
Thank you for your answer.
I’m currently using the free version and considering updating to the pro version.
I didn’t know that the free version can’t control it while sleeping.
And one question, what is the specific name of that feature which allows for the charge limit in the sleeping mode?
I wasn’t able to figure out what it is in the feature list.
Thanks,
David
@MatthiasKerbl commented on GitHub (Aug 28, 2021):
The feature is called "Stop charging when sleeping" and it pauses charging when you close the lid or your MacBook goes to sleep. Unfortunately, even AlDente Pro can’t completely control charging while your MacBook is asleep since all non-Apple apps can’t run during sleep.
@Korean-David commented on GitHub (Aug 28, 2021):
Thank you for the info.
If even the pro version can’t completely control charging just as you said, then what’s the difference between the free version and the pro version in this regard?

If your MacBook goes into sleep on the Free version, it will always charge to 100%.
With AlDente Pro and "Stop charging when sleeping" enabled, AlDente Pro recognizes when your MacBook goes into sleep and stops charging before it goes into sleep. Therefore, your MacBook will stay at the percentage it had at the moment of going into sleep until in wakes up again.
@Korean-David commented on GitHub (Aug 29, 2021):
Now I see how it works. It really helps. Thanks.
So with the pro version, I don’t have to worry about going beyond the limit, right?

And one more quick question.
If I close the lid while charging, or if I start charging while the lid is closed,
how will the pro version behave?
@MatthiasKerbl commented on GitHub (Aug 29, 2021):
Yes
